Weather Proof Your Car!!
What you need to know to get where you’re going this week!
Even with temps below zero and what seems like a foot of snow laying around Kansas City the fact is, most people just can’t avoid getting out. Here are a few tips to make sure your car will start and get you to where you need to go in this winter wonderland!
First things first, avoid scraping ice and brushing snow off your windshield!
Cover your windshield with something! A car cover is perfect but if you don’t have one like most people don’t try a trash bag, blankets, or even your cars floor mats.
Can’t get your windshield wipers clean?
Wipe them down with rubbing Alcohol, it should break down the gunk and prevent ice from forming.
Locked out due to frozen locks?
Heat your KEY with a lighter or match and immediately put it in the key hole. It should work like a charm and you’ll be impressed with yourself! Spraying WD-40 in the lock also works.
If you don’t have access to a lighter or WD-40 try putting your thumb over the hole for a few minutes or as long as you can stand it. While you’re doing that keep the key in between your legs, with all that body heat you might just get it thawed!
Stuck in the snow?
Try putting your cars floor mats behind or in front of your tires for traction. If the snow is too deep and you don’t have a shovel try removing a hub cab and digging your way out, then try the floor mat trick.
Still stuck?
